Core Information

Ram Tone Korat (Korat Tone Dance)

Creator:Nakhon Ratchasima College of Dramatic Arts

"Ram Tone Korat" is a vibrant traditional folk performance originating from Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Its defining feature is the use of the "Tone Korat," a unique local vase-shaped earthenware drum that provides the distinct rhythmic beat of "Pa Tone Pa Tone..." Supported by cymbals (Ching) and wooden clappers (Krap), this upbeat rhythm sets the stage for a lively circular dance. Male and female performers dance in pairs or form a circle, moving in a clockwise direction. The lyrics sung during the performance playfully reflect the traditional local way of life, daily occupations, and the joyful courtship between young men and women.
