Core Information
Rueam Si Phathai Saman
Creator:Nakhon Ratchasima College of Dramatic Arts
"Rueam Si Phathai Saman" is a creative dance inspired by the traditional sericulture and silk-weaving professions of the Surin people. The choreography elegantly depicts the entire process, from planting mulberry trees and raising silkworms to weaving the silk fabric. The performance is accompanied by traditional Kantrum melodies. Originally choreographed by the faculty of Sirindhorn School and Surin Kindergarten, this performance debuted in 1982 at the Phu Phan Ratchaniwet Palace in Sakon Nakhon Province. It features an all-female cast dressed in authentic Surin local textiles, dancing to live music from a Kantrum ensemble. The graceful movements are creatively adapted from the natural, everyday gestures of planting mulberries and weaving silk.
