Khuen Khing (Return to the Body)

"Khuen Khing" (Return to the Body) is a creative performance from the 15th thesis exhibition titled "Silpa: Imagination Creating Culture," produced by 4th-year students majoring in Traditional Music and Isan Folk Dance at Khon Kaen University. This performance portrays the "Su Kwan Luang" (Grand Spirit-Calling Ceremony), a unique ritual based on Mekong sub-regional beliefs that differs from conventional spirit-calling ceremonies. The piece visually interprets the spiritual journey and the return of the 32 "Khwan" (spirits) back to the physical body. It beautifully blends traditional and contemporary Isan choreography, featuring narratives of the spirits' journey and concluding with auspicious blessings for the participants.
