Fon Baisri Luang

"Fon Baisri Luang" is a performance choreographed by the faculty and students of the Department of Dramatic Arts, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University, with musical accompaniment by the Sinsai Ponglang Band. Its primary purpose is to be performed during the Baisri Su Khwan (wrist-tying blessing) ceremony for new students, such as the Kalaphruek Pinning Ceremony, as well as other significant university-level events. The conceptual design beautifully blends traditional Isan folk dance movements with grace, delicacy, and grandeur. The choreography simulates the holding of the Baisri tray, the inviting of deities, and the Sinsai Band's unique wrist-tying blessing gestures. The movements and formations are exquisite, magnificent, and hold inherent sacredness. The performance often features beautiful costumes that reflect the identity of Isan woven fabrics and local handicrafts, which may vary each year.
