"Kaeng Fai Fueai Fon" is a creative Isan folk dance performance inspired by a 1955 photograph of the Peacock Tail Dance performed to welcome royal guests at Wat Phra That Phanom Woramahawihan (archived at the Nakhon Phanom Provincial Hall). The choreography draws upon traditional Mekong basin beliefs, where the peacock tail—often mentioned in Jataka tales, literature, and oral folktales—serves as a symbol of auspicious beginnings and a powerful talisman to ward off all evil. These symbolic beliefs are beautifully translated into this magnificent creative folk dance.
