Ban Nak

"Ban Nak" is the 15th thesis exhibition performance by 4th-year students majoring in Folk Music and Isan Dramatic Arts (Sinsai 15) at Khon Kaen University, presented under the theme "Sin: Imagination Creating Culture." It is inspired by the legend of the "Sattanaka" (the Seven Nagas) who protect Phra That Phanom. The story follows their past lives as seven devoted builders who constructed religious sites and listened to the teachings of the Seven Noble Treasures. Through the merit of their good deeds, they were reborn as Bhummadeva-level Nagas and were commanded by Lord Indra to guard Phra That Phanom, the sacred stupa of the Mekong River basin. This narrative is brought to life through spectacular contemporary choreography and traditional Isan folk music.
