Fon Ern Kwan (Spirit Calling Dance)
Creator:Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts
Fon Ern Kwan" is a traditional Isan folk dance inspired by the "Basi Su Kwan" or spirit-calling ceremony. In the Isan dialect, "Ern Kwan" means calling the spirit. The Isan people hold this ceremony to boost morale, invite good fortune, and restore spiritual balance during important occasions such as weddings, ordinations, welcoming honorable guests, or recovering from illness. The choreography emphasizes graceful and welcoming gestures, beautifully accompanied by blessing vocals designed to bring auspiciousness and joy to all participants.
