"Phuttha Nam Sattha Ratchathida Nakhon Wiang" is a creative dance performance based on the history and legends of the Lan Xang Kingdom (the Land of a Million Elephants and the White Parasol). It tells the story of the profound Buddhist faith of King Setthathirath and Queen Chommani’s three daughters: Princess Suk, Princess Soem, and Princess Sai. Because women could not ordain as monks, the princesses made a resolute vow to attain immense spiritual merit by casting three golden Buddha statues named after themselves—Phra Suk, Phra Soem, and Phra Sai. The performance elegantly portrays their pure devotion and the rich cultural heritage of the Mekong River basin through graceful choreography.
