Core Information

Khaning Ham Namnaen

Creator:Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and Cultural Science, Mahasarakham University

"Khaning Ham Namnaen" is a creative Isan folk dance inspired by the local literature "Phaya Kai Kaeo Hom Su" (translated by Phra Ariyanuwat, Wat Mahachai). The performance depicts the story of Nang Nak Sida, a Naga princess from the netherworld, who remembers her past-life husband, Thao Kamphra. Driven by deep love and longing, she ascends to the human realm with her retinue and transforms into a beautiful "Jeweled Chicken" (Kai Kaeo) to find and reunite with her beloved. This imaginative reinterpretation is beautifully portrayed through elegant choreography.
